Derby may seem to be a normal place, but it is filled with exciting stories. DERBY POLICE MUSEUM

“The Derbyshire Police Memorabilia Collection was given to the Derbyshire County Council in 2004”  – Derbyshire Police Museum

A small museum consists of almost a thousand exhibits. It is located inside the Derby Gaol Museum, which you can visit as well. From the name itself, this contains the history of the police force. You can learn about the Derby Criminals over the years. This is a “must visit” for adults and kids.

PICKFORD MUSEUM

The museum is a short walk from the main city centre. It has a mix of  the elegant Georgian houses on Friar Gate that was built in 1770 and interesting exhibitions. They also managed to preserve the fabulous 1920-1930’s dresses and shoes that belonged to Marchioness Curzon. This is just near the Sublime Stays Apartments Derby!

DERBY MUSEUM AND THE ART GALLERY

“Our aim as a new organisation is to bring as many of these objects into the public domain as is practically possible and exhibit them in ways that delight and inspire.” -Derby Museum and Art Gallery  

This place is one of the 4 most visited museums in Derby. A lot of people visit the place mostly because of the Joseph Wright gallery. There are lots of different exhibits and lovely artworks to check in. The lego exhibit is one of the main highlight sections of the museum especially for kids. The entrance is free of charge!

MUSEUM OF MAKING

You can visit the museum at Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can witness the world’s first factory, the Derby Silk Mill. It is said that this £17 million museum will open its door for the public on 19th September 2020. Visit Derby Museums website for more updates. It has been designed to “inspire those who visit with new creativity, while showcasing Derby’s 300-year history of making and celebrating the area’s rich history of innovation”. It will consist of almost 50,000 displays.
